The Old Government Building - a category 1 listed building complete with swanky cocktail bar and eatery OGB - a true mainstay of the city’s nightlife.
The Christchurch Cathedral - the iconic Cathedral that was the poster child of our city pre-quake is currently undergoing some extensive repairs to restore it to its former beauty.
The Christchurch Art Gallery - Te Puna o Waiwhetū - is a stunning contemporary public art gallery and a hub of culture situated on Worcester Street
The Arts Centre - Te Matatiki Toi Ora - is a magnificent feat of architecture, engineering, repair and restoration that houses a number of recognisable businesses including the Cellar Door wine bar and restaurant and the beautiful Lumiere Cinema
The City Tramways - the restored heritage trams trundling through the centre add to the charm of the city and harks back to a day when electric trams were prevalent in Christchurch, even through to the outer suburbs. In fact, in the early 1900’s Christchurch was able to boast the largest network in the country by route mileage at approximately 86km and by 1912 it was apparently only second only to Sydney in Australasia! The Cathedral Square stop located on Worcester Street is one of the most recognisable tram stops and in summer is teeming with tourists ready to ride the historic hop-on hop-off city transport system.
